Brief Description: Finish Trial Fitment of Elevator
Lots of trial and error, and time for rework.
The clevis-to-clevis distance for the trim tab servo is 116mm. Had to measure a length of stainless steel threaded rod, adjust for the distance inside the bracket, then cut. Attached to servo on one end. Fit inside elevator and on top of a piece of L-angle fabricated the other day that serves as a stiffener. Test fit to trim tab. Had to file a notch in the trim tab hinge channel to clear the trim tab horn which was preventing full movement.
Disassembled all part for final debur and cleanup. Noticed that the horn doubler angle shown in pic 2 had elongated holes. Had to fabricate a new piece out of scrap stock (it pays to have built another airplane before, keeping leftover stock!). Took 2 tries (drilled holes incorrectly first time), but finally got it just right (pic 3). Re-assembled part of the upper and lower control horns to verify total correct fit.
