Brief Description:  Prop hanging

This was another solo effort involving my engine crane. Doing this by myself was risky, particularly in light of my right wing near miss, but I pressed ahead regardless. First, did the math to figure out the torque setting to use since I was using the Anti-Splat Aero prop wrenchextension. After I figured out the proper torque for the wrench, I cleaned the prop hub and engine flange per the manual. I then moved the prop to just in front ho the plane and positioned the crane over the prop. I took a couple of cargo straps and fastened 2 loops tied to my load leveler on the crane and looped around each blade. I then lifted the prop up level with the flange and moved the crane towards the engine until the studs just touched. Since the 6 prop studs are on the prop, you can’t tighten one down first to hold everything in position. They all basically have to be tightened the same amount until the prop is fully on the flange. Otherwise they will bind and eventually something will break, bend, or cross thread (all very bad). There was a slight angular differencebetween the hub and flange due the slight nose up attitude the fuse has sitting on its gear, so I had to lift the prop slightly by hand in order to get the studs into final alignment. I then just slowing began tighten the studs down in using the same pattern called out for the initial and final torque in the manual.
