OK, lots of downtime since my last entry. Also lots of sanding. Finally after 15 min here, 15 min there, I 've gotten the fairing to thepoint I'm ready to start adding micro. First I match drilled it to the VS. I then mounted the rudder with the top fairing to get an idea of the shape I need to match. I also needed to build up the front as this was where the VS fairing really didn't fit-- you can sort of see in photo1 that the leading edge of the fairing does not match that of the VS--it set back about 1/8". Anyway, I made a template with the aft shape I need to build to and taped the template (covered in clear packing tape so the micro won't stick) to the fairing.
