Brief Description:  First Engine Start!

Started the engine for the first time today! I frst removed the lower plugs so I swing the prop in order to pre-oil the enigne. I did that for a couple of minutes and then reinstalled the plugs and connected up all 12 ignition leads. It was then time to pull the plane out of the hangar and onto the taxiway and chock it in-place. With my wife on fire exstinguisher duty I got in an buttoned up. I followed the start-procedure as detailed in the Air Flow Performance FI install manual and the SlickStart augmented ignistion started the engine on one blade. What a relief!! I ran the engine for about 6-min testing the throttle response and both mags. I even cyceled the prop. Everything operated pretty much as it should but it wasn't a perfect run. First, my EFIS rebooted when the starter engaged--this is not good because the EFIS displays my enigne instrumentation. Second, I wasn't getting an RPM indication. After shutdown I put the plane back into the hangar and gave the engine a once over to check for leaks. Found a minior oil leak from the oil cooler supply hose due to a loose connection but that was it.
