Finally got around to locating and cutting the hole for the ELT remote and made a true bone head measuring mistake. I measured the width if the hole using the width of the whole mounting flange vs the width of the part of the remote that actual sticks through the panel so I cut the hole too wide. I fixed it by creating some flox inserts attached to the panel via some scrap alum strips on the back side of the panel to fill in the space enough to provide something to screw the mount to. Although I’m pissed I made this kind of mistake at his stage of the build, it’s a better solution than buying and cutting a new panel, plus the mistake and fix won’t be visible once the panel is painted and installed—only I will know it ever happened (plus you was well not that you’ve read this—don’t tell anyone and I’ll buy you a beer at Oshkosh).
