Brief Description: Deburr and Straighten Rear Spar Doubler
I can't go any further on the rudder until I prime those parts, so I decided to start working on some horizontal stabilizer parts. The HS-906 doubler is another thick (1/8 in.) part that requires straightening. A few well-placed whangs with a rubber mallet and it was straight. Well, straight enough.
The edges are pretty rough with regularly spaced nubs from the cutting process. A vixen file works well to start. I got most of the edges smooth, but that file was too wide to fit in the smaller interior areas. I switched to a mill file and worked the edges a bit smoother, then switched to a 1 in. ScotchBright wheel on my electric drill for final polishing.
I didn't get all the edges though. I'll work the interiors a little later.
Lots of work with a vixen file to get the edges smooth.
It's not perfectly straight, but it's good enough straight.
