Brief Description:  Final Riveting of LH OB LE

One lesson I learned doing this section is the importance of properly fluting the flanges and insuring they are at 90 degrees to the web. I did flute the ribs, but I was paying attention to the wrong end goal.

I didn't pay enough attention to making sure the flanges were going to lie flat against the skin. I also didn't do the fluting with the goal of getting the holes in a straight line, but instead I fluted to get a flat rib. This became apparent when riveting the OB leading edge together today. I had some issues with getting the dimples of the skin and ribs to nest properly and when I riveted it gave me poor results. I ended up drilling out several rivets and installing larger NAS1097 oops rivets. These issues added a good hour and a half to today's session.

I've already applied this lesson to the fuel tank ribs as detailed in previous posts. Hopefully the tank build with goo much smoother with aligned holes and properly bent flanges.

The OB leading edges are both done for now. I'm not ready to attach them to the spar yet. I'm also going to hold off installing the stall warning switch until I'm ready to install the edges in an effort to prevent the vane from being damaged.
