Brief Description: LH Spar Screw Hole Countersinking Problem
I ran into a problem on the LHS spar trying to countersink the #8 screw holes in the spar flange. The C/S bit is chattering badly and I'm not sure how to get it to behave. I tried experimenting on a test panel but so far I haven't figured it out. I tried one on the actual spar flange but it was almost as bad as the test panels. I didn't get near full depth, so I still have room left to get a good smooth surface.
Right after I ran into that issue, I was lucky? enough to get COVID and was out for about 10 days. I had absolutely no energy so mostly I slept. I'm almost 100% again so today was the first day I got back to work on the spar.
I put aside the LHS spar for the moment and decided to match drill the J-stiffeners on the RHS. I got into a pretty good rythym and finished a lot faster this time. I still have to roll the lower stiffeners to the upper flange to finish the match drilling. Upper stiffeners deburred and set aside for later.
So far all of my trials have led to errors. Can't figure out why my C/S is so bad all of a sudden.
Fuel tank screw hole countersink looking pretty bad. Not yet full depth though so I can save it.
