Brief Description:  Install Nutplates on LHS Lower Spar Flange

Tonight was a continuation of yesterday's activities, this time on the lower flange. Instead of doing each nutplate individually, I decided to cleco and screw all of them in place then just go down the line with the pneumatic squeezer. It worked well, but holding that 7 lb squeezer for a lot of rivets was a bit tiring. I'm not sure it was any faster either. In any case I'm done with the flange fasteners in the LHS spar.

I still have to install seven nutplates on the web, but I ran out of daylight and energy at the same time.

I ordered a single flute #30 countersink from Cleaveland and it will arriver later in the week. I'm going to hold off countersinking the screw holes until this weekend. I need to do the C/S and Alodine application in one session.

I tried an assembly line process this time. Cleco and screw all nutplates first, then rivet.
