Welcome to my Nexus Mustang Builders Log.
The project was started at a low level in April of 2010. However, since my retirement in late 2020, the project has accelerated. The Nexus is my second homebuilt project, my first was an RV-4. The RV was completed in 2003 and I currently have about 1600 hours on it. I really enjoy the RV, but I wanted to attempt the challenge of a less common scratch-built aircraft. While quite similar to the RV-4, the Nexus offers the following:
1. A slightly bigger cockpit with some ergonomic improvements.
2. A tapered, laminar flow wing geared a bit more to cross country than short field.
3. Slightly higher cruise speed.
4. A forward baggage compartment to help with CG control.
5. An airplane that is a bit less common than RVs have now become.
