Welcome to my experimental aircraft Web site. I began my building adventure with plans to a Zenith 601XL. I had all the wooden bending forms completed and was ready to purchase aluminum when my wife and I attended Oshkosh in 2006. We left convinced by the many wonderful examples of RV aircraft that we would order an RV8A. I does not seem possible that I'm over a year into the project. I have completed the rudder, vertical stabilizer, horizontal stabilizer and elevators ailerons and flaps. The wings are nearing final assembly and this week (3/24/08) the fuselage was ordered. Delivery time on the fuselage is projected for 8 weeks. My wife is very encouraging in fact we have become a great riveting team. I throughly enjoy the building process and to this point find myself constantly impressed with the fit of the parts supplied by Vans. A year into the project and I have yet to find an issue that was the result of Vans production. Like every builder, I have reworked and in 4 or 5 cases replaced parts due to my own workmanship. While building, I am also completing my PPL. I expect to solo in 2 or 3 weeks. My wife and I look forward to using the RV as a time machine reducing travel time in the comming years.
