This project started around 50 years ago. That was when I started playing with toy WWI airplanes. As a child I built balsa wood and plastic WWI airplane models. I have watched every WWI flying movie shown on TV and in theaters. In short I have loved these low and slow biplane fighters my entire life.
Eventually I discovered I could build a replica from Airdrome Aeroplanes. Now I wanted one to call my own. But then I did not know how to fly. Further I was too heavy for the plane. Details.
Now closer to 60, I learned to fly. I lost 70lbs. Almost there. I have started building my Fokker DVII. Maybe in two years I'll finish.
Still I'll need tail-wheel training-preferably in a Champ. Plus there are not too many friendly "grass" fields in Southern California. More details, but I am getting closer to the goal. One step at a time.
