Brief Description: Steering Rods / Paint Nose Fork / Bolt Lower Nose
Several little things; getting ready for a group at our home tonight, so interepersing with honey-do's to get ready.
Painted nosewheel fork and doubler; will be mounting to nose strut very soon.
Bolted aft lower bearing support in place; wanted to get these snug before I removed the 3/16" cleco's from the front edge.
Most time spent on the steering rods. These bolt to the rudder pedals and protrude thru the firewall and connect to the steering posts on the nosewheel strut. I first removed the cosmoline rust preventative, then spray painted the ends. A builder hint from the forums suggested using teflon tubing over the rods to keep them from scraing on the plates thru the firewall. First one was the real bear to do. Tried silicone, heat, pressure, etc. Finally got it on far enough (upper rod in pic below). The second sleeve slid right on with no stickiness at all. Go fiture.
